Storm-proof bin storage: Customer solution for windy locations

When the wind becomes a challenge – customer tip for particularly stormy locations

Anyone who places their bin storage unit in an open, windy location knows the problem: despite high-quality workmanship and well-closing lids, strong gusts of wind can cause the lid to be forced open or remain open unintentionally.

One of our customers had exactly this problem – and found a simple, clever solution which we are allowed to show here with her kind permission.

The challenge: wind pressure on the lid

Especially in exposed locations such as detached houses, hillsides, or near the coast, the wind can be quite strong. Even though our bin enclosures are sturdily constructed, a particularly strong wind load can sometimes cause the lid to lift slightly.

Our client created an effective solution with minimal resources, which is both functional and visually unobtrusive.

The solution: Individual lid locking – simple and effective

With a custom-designed additional mechanism, it ensures that the lid remains reliably closed even in storms. This is achieved using two discreet tension latches on the inside and an elegant hook and eye closure.

The advantages at a glance:

  • ✅ The lid will not open during a storm.

  • ✅ Fast and cost-effective retrofitting

  • ✅ Visually discreet and functional

  • ✅ Removable without leaving any residue when no longer needed
